

Nancy Susan Bateh passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 16, 2025 at the age of 58. Nancy was born in Jacksonville, FL on January 24, 1967 and was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Nancy was an amazing person with a strong work ethic and cheerful personality. She was known for giving heartfelt advice and being the voice of reason. Nancy had a love of animals, especially her English Setters. She enjoyed doing things for her loved-ones and was notorious for planning special family vacations. Nancy’s belief in the Lord and devotion to her family & friends was evident in her day-to-day interactions. She was so loving and dedicated to all aspects of her life.
Nancy had a passion to help others and advocate for those with disabilities. Her career started in the Duval County School System where she positively impacted the lives of countless students for over 15 years. Nancy’s career advanced after she pursued her master’s in education and accepted a role as a counselor for the Florida Department of Education Division of Blind Services. Nancy was constantly being celebrated in this new role for her hard work and successful case closures. She made a difference for disabled individuals by assisting with job placement and helping them overcome career obstacles.
Nancy received The Johnnie Slaton Award for seven consecutive years from the state of Florida. This prestigious accolade recognized her for achieving the highest amount of job placements across the entire state of Florida. Nancy was also appointed twice for 2-year terms to the Florida Rehabilitation Counsel for the Blind. This honor was awarded by Governor Ron DeSantis in May 2021 and again in June 2023.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Bateh & Salwa Bateh and brothers, Peter & Edward Bateh. She is survived by her sisters, Jeanette (Kevin) Ferrell, Connie & Tracy Bateh, loving niece and nephew Elizabeth & Max Schneider, and beloved fur babies, Ginger & Oliver.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25th at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Father John Reynolds will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Oaklawn on San Jose Blvd.
