

Nellie (Seals) Bray, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on June 28, 2020. After graduating from Andrew Jackson High School and busines school, she was employed by Nabisco. She married Robert Bray in 1950. She and Robert were Charter Members of Terry Parker Baptist Church where they served faithfully for many years. She served as President of the PTA and was very active in all programs while their children were in elementary school. When the children started Junior High, Nellie when back to work, first representing Avon, then began working for Bob and Nancy Kuhn at Kuhns Flowers. After 19 years of employment, she retired as Vice President of the company. She dearly loved all aspect of the business and made wonderful friends during her tenure. During her retirement years, she and Robert enjoyed traveling the US and abroad and cruising the Caribbean. She also discovered a joy for oil painting. After her husband suffered injury and later illness, she became a full time caretaker for his remaining years. She devoted her life to his care until he passed in 2011. Four years later she was devastated with the loss of her only son, Bobby. In 2016, she moved to Coastal Sr. Care Center in St. Mary’s, GA, closer to her daughter. She loved her new “family” of friends. She was so honored when the asked if they could display her oil paintings throughout the lobby for all to enjoy.
Nellie was predeceased by her parents, Margaret “Maggie” (Geiger) and James F, Seals, Sr; husband, Robert Bray, Sr.; son, Robert “Bobby” Bray, Jr. and brother, William Seals.
Nellie is survived by her brother, James Seals, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Agnes Martin, of Old Hickery, TN; daughter, Terri (Robert, Jr.) Shad; grandchildren, Robert (Shawna) Shad, III; Melissa Shad; great grandchild, Robert Shad, IV; all of St. Mary’s GA; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, FL, will be held Thursday July 2, 2020 at 11:00 am. Burial arrangements are facilitated by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211
