Known to her friends and family as "Deedee", Patricia was a resident of Jacksonville her whole life. She grew up on Masal Street where she was surrounded by built-in best friends/cousins.
Patricia had a genuine love of caring for people, which she would credit to her mother whom cared for children in the foster system in the 1960s. Her mother's positive influence would spark a love for children in both Patricia and her sister that would carry on for the rest of their lives.
Patricia graduated from Englewood High School in 1972 and proceeded to take some college courses with admirations to become a teacher. Patricia had a passion for music and her first job was even at the local radio station W.A.P.E.
More than anything else, Patricia wanted to become a mother. After welcoming her first child, she would leave school to focus on her family. While raising her kids, Patricia would also come to be her own beloved mother's caretaker. Her mother would pass shortly after the birth of Patricia's last child.
A teacher at heart, Patricia homeschooled her 2 youngest children until they graduated, all while working odd jobs. Patricia often worked deep into the night so that she could be with her kids during the day.
In the last few years of her life, Patricia was diagnosed with dementia. Just as Patricia had been the caretaker for her own mother, Patricia's daughter Lindsay would also become her caretaker. In the end, Patricia moved into Wyndham Lakes, a memory care facility; she loved the staff there and had many friends. She was most known for her hugs.
Patricia is predeceased by her father Byrne Sallas, mother Florence Sallas, brother Byrne Jr, and sister, Sharon Crandall.
She is survived by her children; Christopher, Lindsay (Edwin), and Matthew (Emily).
Nephew Micheal, Nieces Laura and April.
