Peter John Condorodis lived a life filled with warmth, humor, and an unwavering love for his family and community. His outgoing personality and humor earned him numerous friendships throughout his life. Until his sudden passing, he remained active and engaged in his retirement community, where he embraced life to the fullest. He fell asleep in the Lord on May 25, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Peter was the eldest son of Greek immigrant parents, John and Smaro Condorodis. He spent his early years working in the family restaurant, The Tennessee, and graduated from Western Hills High School in 1950. A talented and involved student, he was a member of the track team, camera club, orchestra, and the Old Kentucky Five band.
Following graduation, Peter pursued electronics and began working with American Totalisator Company, installing betting equipment at horse racing tracks. While in Florida for work, fate brought him to a Greek dance at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, where he met Peggy Nichols. This chance meeting led to a beautiful courtship and a marriage that spanned 54 wonderful years. Together, they settled first in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1961, before moving to Ormond Beach in 1964. Peter transitioned into real estate, becoming a licensed broker and founding Condorodis Realty, which he operated for over four decades.
A devoted father, Peter enthusiastically coached baseball and soccer, supported his children's school projects, and showcased his knack for fixing just about anything—often with a little extra help from duct tape. His love for tinkering reflected his creativity and resourcefulness.
Deeply connected to his Greek heritage and faith, Peter was a longtime member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach. He volunteered tirelessly at the Greek Festival’s Loukoumades booth and was an active member in AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association). He was also a graduate of the Ormond Beach Police Citizen’s Academy. After his wife’s passing, he moved to Orlando, where he spent several years close to his youngest son’s family, treasuring every moment with two of his wonderful grandchildren. Later, he relocated to a retirement community in Jacksonville near his daughter, where he continued to embrace his faith, regularly attending Bible study, streaming services from St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, receiving communion, and cherishing conversations with Fr. Nick during his routine visits. He also maintained an active social life, participating in physical therapy, “pedaling around the world,” and enjoying Friday happy hours with friends.
Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy (Nichols) Condorodis, and his brothers Anestis “Irish” (late Janeen) Condorodis, Dr Constandinos “Gus” (Carolyn) Condorodis. He is survived by his three children: John (Bonnie) Condorodis, Mary Condorodis, and George (Aline) Condorodis; his grandchildren: Joshua, Amanda, Shannon, Victoria, and Enzo; and his great-grandchildren: Carson, Everly, Roman, Memphis, and Jax; He also leaves behind a Godson along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Peter will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud Greek American, and an outstanding example of kindness and generosity. May his memory be eternal.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 12760 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach, St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Jacksonville or a charity of your choice.
