

Randolph “Randy” Tucker Evans, Sr. 76, passed away at home on Friday, January 4, 2013. Randy was a Jacksonville native, born May 2, 1936 to Geraldine and Howell M. Evans. Educated at The Bolles School, he was a Korean War Veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army.
Randy was the owner and founder of Independent Sprinkler Corporation, a sister company of Moore Pipe and Sprinkler Company, owned by his father. He and his son Tucker continued the family tradition with Evans Fire Protection Company in 1993. Randy also served as President of The Florida Fire Sprinkler Association.
Randy felt strongly about giving back to his community and did so throughout his life. He served as a board member of Here’s Life Jacksonville, Florida Yacht Club and Riverside Rotary where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was active in the Commodore’s League and was a dedicated servant to his church, Ortega United Methodist.
Randy is predeceased by his brothers Mack and Jerry Evans. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sally Glenn Evans and children Allison and Jeff Waters, Tucker and Susan Evans and Greg and Jackie Evans. Randy was known for his generosity, kindness, laughter and ready smile. This was never more evident than when he was in the company of his grandchildren, whom he loved with a passion. Papa will be greatly missed by McKendree, Hunter, Marit, Sarah Glenn, Madeleine, Jack, Harrison, Tucker, Nolan and Susanna.
A memorial service will be held Friday January 11, 2pm at Ortega Methodist Church 4807 Roosevelt Blvd. Reception in Fellowship Hall will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary at P.O. Box 52508 Jacksonville, FL 32201 or the OUMC Life Building Fund.
