Raymond Tillman Jennings, 83, also known as Ray, Sugar Ray, Mr. J, Pops, Pa-Paw and Saint Ray to name a few, passed away on June 19, 2017. Ray was a longtime resident of the Garden City community on the Northside of Jacksonville. He was a member of the Andrew Jackson High School Class of 1952 (give ‘em hell Tigers!) and opened Jennings Insurance Agency which he ran for 43 years. He served as a Tech. Sgt. in the Florida Air National Guard. Ray was always busy and never sat still. He loved, in no particular order: Highlands Little League, Northside Businessmen’s Club, Boy Scouts, Bluegrass festivals, gardening, hunting, golfing, Raines Football, Bishop Kenny Football and Florida Gator Football (season ticket holder and Booster since 1982). But most of all, he loved his family. He was usually found being chauffeured by his driver, who was also his best-friend and wife of 25 years, Billie Sue. He is survived by his two sons and step-daughter: R. Douglas Jennings (Susie), David K. Jennings (Kathi) and Dawn K. Hudson (Curtis Long). Siblings: LaVerne and Donald. His grandchildren: Traci Rae (Chad), Trista, Talia and Myles; and three great-grandchildren and eight grand-dogs. His life will be celebrated on July 25 at 11 am at Garden City United Methodist Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to the angels of Community Hospice & Palliative Care (too many to name) and request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to continue their mission. Arrangements by: Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.
