

Rhonda Gauger was born in Columbus, Ga, June 20, 1961, and went into the loving arms of Jesus on August 3, 2024, after complications from pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband Robert, a daughter, Cathryn, a son, Benjamin (Erin), and a granddaughter Erika. She is survived by her father, Ron Carter and a sister, Robin Carter. She is proceeded in death by a brother Ron Jr., and her mother Nora Martin Carter, and grandparents.
Rhonda was a music teacher in St Johns County for over 28 years. She was innovative in her teaching, was teacher of the year twice, created and sold a recorder curriculum in Canada and the United States, and won numerous grants for her schools. She was also fortunate to open 4 new schools in Northwest St. Johns County as well.
She loved her children and was always supportive of their musical and sports endeavors. Whether in the bleachers or at football games, marching band competitions, or traveling sports teams she was there all the time being the number one supporter.
As a pianist, she was supportive of her husband who was minister of music for 25 years and played piano for choirs and worship services. She also accompanied numerous students for solo and ensemble contests.
In her spare time, Rhonda loved to travel, enjoyed camping, fishing, and taking cruises to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, and Alaska.
A memorial service will be held at Mandarin Presbyterian Church, 2501 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, Fl, Saturday, August 24th at 11:00AM. Gary Hutcheson presiding. Live streaming is available.
