As a young man, Richard served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class. Richard moved to Jacksonville in 1976. He loved gardening, hunting, playing guitar, and spending time with his family.
Richard is predeceased by his loving wife, Edith D. Horne; son, Mitchell Horne; brother, William D. Horne, and sisters, Peggy “Polly” P. Gleaton, and Linda Faye Horne.
He is survived by his son, Harold Horne; daughters, Polly Lenderman, Glenda Muschaweck, Carlene Morris; brother, Tommy E. (Marcia) Horne of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Gloria (Don) Glisson of Ponte Vedra, Florida; 27 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
