Robert “Bobby" Gordon Abshur born February 22nd, 1944 in Portsmouth, Virginia passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 5th after a brave, defiant fight with cancer. Throughout his life Bobby had a passion for baseball. He played in high school and then became a devoted coach to many in the area. Bobby was dedicated to helping others develop their talent, teamwork, discipline and overcoming adversity. Bobby also loved traveling around the world during his career as an electrical engineer.
Bobby was a loving and proud father of his two daughters- Gina Ramsey (husband Doug Ramsey), Krissy Barkas (husband Daniel Barkas). He was also “Papa” to two grandchildren - Dolan Ramsey (13) and Lauryn Barkas (15).
Bobby was survived by sister Charlene Lester of Virginia.
A celebration of life will be held from 5pm -7pm Friday, June 9th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32211. In lieu of flowers - donations are requested to Community Hospice of Jacksonville.
