Bob moved to Jacksonville in 1976 and lived in the Arlington for the last 45 years. In 1982 he opened TST Mortgage in honor of his three sons; Tyler, Shaughnessy, and Travis. Bob always said being a dad was the best job he ever had. If you ever met him, he considered you his friend. He never met a stranger. He was known to give the shirt off his back to someone in need; even during times when he didn’t have one to give. Bob was a huge history buff. He could tell you so much about the Civil War and World War II. He always had a smile and a story to tell, although not always true, to brighten your day.
Bob loved coaching his children in baseball at Arlington Little League and basketball at the Arlington YMCA. He also enjoyed playing tennis in numerous men’s leagues in Arlington. Bob loved playing basketball with his sons and their friends at Episcopal High School every Tuesday night for many years. Bob walked the River Run for many years wearing a t-shirt, jean shorts, and loafers because he knew there was free beer once he crossed the finish line. His only goal was to avoid the ‘Bus of Shame’.
Bob enjoyed playing trivia at the local watering holes, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, visiting waterfalls, attending games and performances for his children and grandchildren, traveling with family, and listening to great music, especially Johnny Cash.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be at one of his favorite places. Join his family to share your favorite memories between 3pm-5pm at Mudville Grille (3105 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207) on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Arlington Little League or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Harms family.
