Bob was a Christian and member of Mandarin Baptist Church. He was the son of Katherine Witty and step son of Dr. Robert Witty. His father was Willard Hoover. Bob loved his family and is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Robert Hoover, Jr. (Kathy), Joseph Gee Hoover (Deana); daughter, Rita Ross (Gary); five grandsons, Wayne Ross, Scott Ross, Robby Hoover, Jeremy Hoover and Timothy Hoover; one granddaughter, Joei Michelle Hoover; great grandchildren, Katelyn Ross, Ella Grace Hoover, Jace and Gray Hoover.
Bob retired from the Jacksonville Electric Authority after 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and loved boating and the water.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel on Wednesday, May 24 at 11:00 am. Dr. Terry Gore, Pastor at Franklin Street Baptist Church and Dr. Dan Davis, Senior Adult Pastor of Mandarin Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, followed by a reception in the chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers you may make a donation to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd.
