Robert “Bob” James Levey, a longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away on June 25, 2013, at age 83. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 5, 1929. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Levey and Shirley Krane, sister, Geraldine Collier, and brother, Fred Levey. He is survived by his former wife, Elaine, and his children, Russ Levey and Kim Levey. He has several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for almost five years beginning in 1947. His honorable discharge lists Patrol Squadron Forty Six (VP-46) as his most significant duty assignment. Bob was employed by WFGA/WTLV Channel 12 for 37 years as a Audio Engineer. He enjoyed camaraderie with co-workers at the station and on remotes for launches at Kennedy Space Center. He had an appreciation for radio and television history, trends and equipment. Since his retirement, Bob enjoyed going to flea markets, socializing, and collecting. He had many friendships with people in the Englewood area and former employees from Channel 12. He was a compassionate animal lover who regularly provided food and shelter to feral cats in the community. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl 32211.
