Mr. Williams was my fifth grade teacher at St. Mark’s! He was a kind and motivating person and always calm and composed.

I remember him telling us once that everyone ought to live in New York, even if it was just for a little while.

I’ve lived in Brooklyn now for a year and this memory makes me smile. I will always remember him as one of my favorite teachers.

Steven was my very first friend in NY when I went on a business trip,. A friend recommended I call him.
They invited me to the condo and from then on it was my home away from home.
He was my NY mother.
Rest I peace and our love goes with on your next Broadway opening.

My husband Carlos and I have known Steve and Jerry for 40 years. We count them among our dearest friends, even though we’ve lived on opposite sides of the country for three decades. Steve had a wonderful razor sharp wit, a brilliant mind and an enormous heart. We will miss him tremendously.

Steve Williams was my 6th grade teacher at The Birch Wathen School around 1984. He was tough but really cared about his students. There is a reason why, after all of these years I distinctly remember him in the 6th grade. This was the year I became a good student at Birch. Rest Easy Mr. Williams. The BWL School community owes you a debt of gratitude. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Williams. My sister and I both had him as our 6th grade teacher at Birch Wathen. Mr. Williams was so serious and controlled his class to the nth degree, however I once caught him in his little private hallway (as he had an end corner) laughing and joking around with my fifth grade teacher, Ms. Leonard, and I knew instantly that Mr. Williams had a soft side!!! What a gift to have him as our teacher. Sending love to the entire Mr. Williams family.

With Love,

Mr. Williams was my 6th grade teacher at Birch Wathen in NYC—and the year was approximately 1983. He was a truly gifted educator and was such a positive force in so many lives, including my life. He expected a lot from his students and you learned to rise to the occasion. May his memory be a blessing to all of those who knew him. My deepest condolences to his family. A very consequential live lived.

Steve was a beautiful person who always had kind words to share when anyone needed them. The kids at St. Mark’s adored him as did all his colleagues. Prayers for his family as I’m sure no one will miss him more than them. He was a true blessing to all who were lucky enough to know him.
