Sandra Alice Moore Webb passed away on September 12, 2016, and went up to glory. Mom was born at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC, on January 26, 1934 to Anne and Donald Moore. Her dad was in the Air Force, a proud member of Hell on Wings, and she attended twelve schools in twelve years. Their most memorable posting was in Hawaii. Mom clearly remembered Pearl Harbor - the blackout curtains, the bombing and living in a cave eating pancakes for a week afterward. She loved the water and, while performing as an aquadette (synchronized swimming!), she met the love of her life, John Webb. He was also in the Air Force, and they had a wonderful 54 years together, living up and down the east coast and in Bermuda. They were a team and so involved in whatever their girls were doing, from sewing dance costumes and making their tutus twinkle with Christmas lights to filling the spare bedroom with boxes of Thin Mints as the Girl Scout cookie chairman and troop leader. We camped on our vacations to Canada and Myrtle Beach and, later, Mom and Dad cruised from Alaska to Italy. Mom loved to get up and go. Dad passed away in 2010 and mom is survived by her brothers, Don and Allen, and two daughters, Leslie Dawson and Susan Wright (Harris), six incredible grandchildren who made her so proud - Rebecca, Katie, Elizabeth, Matthew (Melissa), Patrick and Allison, and two beautiful great grandchildren - Julianna and Sophia. She was a strong, independent and beautiful woman who loved her family and her church, especially her St. Anne’s group at Church of Our Savior and her fellow Newcomers. We are all imagining her organizing endless games of bridge, playing a little bunko for a change of pace, happily sipping some peach sangria and walking the beach with Dad looking for sharks’ teeth. “Come on, shug, it’s time to go.” A celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 20, at 11AM at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 12236 Mandarin Road. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Church of Our Savior. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025.
