

Sterling H Copeland passed peacefully from this life August 27, 2012 in Jacksonville FL. Sterling was born, the 2nd child of Amos and Martha Copeland February 17, 1923. Sterling grew up in Lima, Ohio, and studied one year at Ohio State University before leaving for the U.S. Army where he trained with the 10th Mountain Division, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East in WWII. After the army he returned to Ohio and graduated from the University of Toledo. Sterling met and married Ruth Wicks in 1952 and settled in New Jersey where he worked for several years as a Civil Servant. After retiring in 1973 the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where Sterling went to work for Diebold, Dowling & Douglas, and Atkinson’s Drugstore. Sterling was an avid Ham Radio operator using the call letters K4JTD. Sterling is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth A Copeland, his daughter Alice Boito(John), His sister Patricia Weygandt, grandchildren Karen Swope, Mark Boito (Lauren), Michael Boito (Jennifer), Kelly Lemkul (Justin). Sterling is further survived by his great grand children Chase Swope, Riley Swope, and Alex Boito, as well as a host of other relatives’ and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held Friday, August 31, 2012 from 5-8pm at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel. Funeral Services will be in St Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church located 3976 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10Am with Reverend Dale G Gatz officiating.
