I am a medical teacher at Darnell-Cookman, and had the pleaure to work with "Mr. B".I will always remember his smile. His smile always found its way to his eyes, leaving no doubt of how sincere he was.I have chosen a star in the night sky in which to remember him. May his star shine brightly!

Steve was quite a character. He never met a student that he didn't want to save.It could be said that he cared more about the kids than he did about getting things in his own life sorted out. he loved coaching, but his first love was to coach high school ball. Mr. B, as the kids lovingly called him, will be missed.

Bowerman Family,My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I worked with Steve at Darnell Cookman for a year. Steve was a sweet guy and the students loved and respected him. He took the time to talk to them and to listen to them.  Steve will be missed by everyone.

When I taught in the youth department at Parkwood, I can remember the feeling when Steve walked in a room.  His smile and his charm just lit up the place like a beacon.  He was such a fine person, and an outstanding influence to all who knew him.  While we never understand why some are gone so soon, one thing I know for sure, is that it matters not how someone leaves this life, but how they lived it when they were here.  Steve LIVED his life, and anyone who ever knew him carries a little piece of that beacon that shown whenever he was around.  It is my prayer for all who grieve his loss that you will find comfort in your memories, and comfort in knowing that the moment he stepped into the presence of the Lord, he had that same beautiful infectious smile, that says, "Hey, I'm Steve...and I have arrived on the scene."  I'm sure that in that moment God beamed from ear to ear as we all did every time we saw him.

To all of Mr.Bowerman's familyi am so veyr sorry for your loss. i would really love to say that Mr.B was a big part of Darnell Cookman. and a took a HUGE part in my life. me and mr.b were very close and i dont know how i would have got through the year without him. he is irreplaceable in darnell and our hearts. i love you B and i'll miss you soo much.. you'll always be in my heart.. i'll never forget take over day adn how much fun we had together..watchover us all. you'll never be forgotten.

I wish I could make to to Jacksonville for the services to remember Steve.  Like so many others, I loved Steve's smile that could light up Southside.  He was so helpful, friendly and professional while working at the hotel.  I had the pleasure of working with him, being a guest at the hotel he was working at and the honor of calling him my friend.  Steve, I hope you know that in your short life you touched so many peoples' hearts, whether by helping them at the hotel or the gym, teaching them about baseball, sharing a funny story or just flashing them that famous smile, you made a difference in the lives of many people including myself and for that I thank you.

I have not seen Steve in many years but have fond memories of him being in the youth department at Parkwood Baptist Church when I worked with the youth. I was very saddened to hear of his death. May God comfort your hearts as only He can.

Steve was a great guy. I met him in middle school and knew him through high school. He will be truly missed. I cannot imagine your pain. You have my deepest sympathies.

Steve,Enjoyed hanging with you when I did stats for the team. From what I hear, you have been a wonderful influence on my students. Your time here on Earth was too short. May you rest in peace.
