Suzanne Harper Catto

Born on September 16, 1945, Suzanne was the beloved daughter of Bernard Warren Harper and Mildred Howell Wooten Harper. She was the youngest of two children.

Suzanne graduated from Dupont High School in Jacksonville in 1963 and was a devoted “career volunteer.” From helping in her children’s elementary school health clinics, to supporting the Spina Bifida Associations in Tampa and Jacksonville, to serving as Public Relations Director of the National Association for Spina Bifida, she dedicated her life to advocacy and service. She traveled many times to Washington, D.C., where she lobbied for the interests and rights of people with disabilities.

Locally, Suzanne oversaw volunteers at the Jacksonville Fair and served on its Board of Directors. She was active in the Kiwanis Club, worked with the Civic Round Table, and served as Executive Director of Character Counts. In addition, she served on the City of Jacksonville’s Ethics Commission, where she also taught ethics training to city employees.

Beyond her community service, Suzanne cherished spending time with her family and friends. She loved helping raise her grandsons, traveling, playing tennis and bunco, attending her garden club, worshiping at church, and enjoying lunch afterward with her “posse” of dear friends. She truly loved serving others and enriching her community.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Michael L. Catto; and her brother, Warren Harper. She is survived by her children, Walter Bruce Connors, Jr. and Amy Connors Seamon (Joe); her grandchildren, Joseph Connor Seamon and Jacob Ryan Seamon; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following, at Southside Methodist Church.
