Teri Susan Hamilton of Jacksonville passed away suddenly on Dec. 16 at her home at the age of 63, leaving behind a large and loving family that will miss her spirit, wit and knack for being the center of attention in every room.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate John Hamilton.
Teri was born in Riverdale, Md., on Feb. 6, 1962 and was the middle child of five born to her mother, Louise McKinney of Orange Park. Teri was a 1980 graduate of Orange Park High School and worked as a civilian employee at NAS Jacksonville from 1992 until her retirement in 2022.
Teri embraced being the middle child, loved family gatherings, trips to south Florida with her husband and most of all her son Matthew George McKinney, who made her proud his entire life.
Teri loved NASCAR (especially Denny Hamlin and the Joe Gibbs Racing Team), Notre Dame football and the Washington Commanders (but she steadfastly refused to conform to her team's new nickname). She had a mind for sports trivia that baffled male relatives and friends.
Teri is survived by her son Matthew, her parents George and Louise McKinney, brothers Lee Smits of Daytona Beach and Garry Smits (Mary Beth) of Jacksonville; sister Lori Harrison of Houston; step-brothers Scott (Debbie) and Eric McKinney of Orange Park; step-sister Kim Anderson of Paducah, Ky., and numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Dec. 27 at 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m at Hardage-Giddens, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville.
A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, located at 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, 32223, on December 27, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
