

Thomas Edgar Tommy Stringfellow, 97, quietly departed this life on the morning of August 18, 2013 with expectation of being reunited with his parents, Hazel and George Stringfellow; wife, Margaret Welch; son, Thomas Jerry Gerald; granddaughter, Christina; brother, George P., Jr.; and infant sister, Shirley who have predeceased him. He was born in St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL on May 25, 1916. He served in the US Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. After his service he worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility at Jacksonville Naval Air Station until his retirement. Tommy was affiliated with Masonic Temple Lodge #23 and the Morocco Shrine Temple as well as Mandarin Baptist Church and more recently Holiday Hill Baptist Church. Tommy is survived by his wife, Joan Parker Stringfellow; children, Sherri Olivia and Fred Berley, Cheryl (Mrs. Jerry) Stringfellow; grandchildren, Frederick and Patrick Berley, Heather and Chris Lester, Elizabeth and Russell Wolfe, and Thomas David Stringfellow; step children, Lynda and Charlie Weeden, Pamela Sanderson, Karen Scott. He is also survived by 7 step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22nd in Holiday Hill Baptist Church, 730 Mandalay Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32216 with Dr. Albert Byrd as Officiant. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 1).
