Born on September 10, 1961, in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, Timothy grew up with a strong sense of duty and compassion that would define his life’s work. He graduated from Ligonier Valley High School and went on to attend Coastal Carolina Community College, laying the foundation for a career marked by service and commitment.
Timothy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987 and continued his dedication to his country as a member of the Navy Reserve until 1989. His military service reflected the same values he carried throughout his life—honor, integrity, and selflessness.
In 1987, Timothy began a long and distinguished career with the Town of Cary Fire Department in North Carolina. As an engineer with Station 7, he served tirelessly until his retirement in 2012. His passion for firefighting extended beyond his professional duties; he also volunteered with the Bear Creek Fire and Rescue Department in North Carolina. Whether responding to emergencies or mentoring fellow firefighters, Timothy found deep purpose in helping others and protecting his community.
Timothy’s devotion to service was matched only by his love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Salena Woods; his son, Timothy S. Luther; daughters Beth L. Riley and Hannah L. Berg; and his sister, Nancy L. Bancroft. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence D. Luther; mother Madeline Barker Hall (Ken); and brother Phillip Luther.
Those who knew Timothy remember him as someone who loved deeply and gave generously of himself. His warmth touched many lives, both within his family circle and throughout the communities he served.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who value courage, compassion, and service above self.
