

Vera was born on September 1, 1935, in Ukraine, to parents Simen and Hanna Zhuk, the third of five siblings. She married Aleksandr Glavnik in 1957 and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1990.
Vera first and foremost loved the Lord, enjoyed studying the Bible and was active in service at her local church. She cherished her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading poetry, tending her garden, preparing delicious meals, and lovingly caring for her home. She was a dedicated math and physics teacher, shaping the lives of her students.
Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Aleksandr Glavnik, and her son Anatoliy Glavnik. She is survived by her son Vitaly (Valentina), her daughter Larisa (Vladimir), her daughter Dina (Leonid), her son Daniel, and her grandchildren Irina, Aleksandr, Timothy, Lena, Luda, Victoria, Andrew, Angela, and their families, as well as eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026. A viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church (West Hall, 125 Ashley Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202).
