Verna Lee "Billie" Gardner

Billie, as she was affectionately known, was born in 1921, moved to Jacksonville when she was 12 and remained there the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil, whom she was devotedly married to for over 70 years. She died peacefully in hospice care, surrounded by many of her family and loved ones.

Her unwavering love lives through her daughter Gail Cassala, three grandchildren Kelly McPhail, Jacqueline Johansson, and Gabriel Cassala and four great grandchildren McKenzie McPhail, Madison McPhail, Leighton McPhail and Wynnie Johansson. The many loved ones she leaves behind, including her large extended family of nieces and nephews will always remember her infectious smile, unfaltering generosity, and devout faith in God.

Billie’s blessed character and beaming disposition act as an inspiration to all and a guiding light for future generations.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make memorials to Northeast Florida Community Hospice Foundation.
