

Vernon Michael Cole (lovingly known as Peepop), of Jacksonville, Florida was promoted to heaven on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Vernon was born on November 9, 1949 to Minott and Gertrude Cole in Portland, Maine. He graduated from Englewood High School in 1968 where he played trombone in the marching band. Vernon attended Berkshire Christian College in Lenox, Massachusetts and majored in Music, Voice and Brass instruments. Vernon had a lifelong love of music, he used his gifted talents to sing and play trombone and piano in church. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God. Also, he played the trombone in the Jacksonville Community Band.
His family was everything to him and he dedicated his life to bringing up his children in a Godly lifestyle. He was a devoted grandfather who adored his grandkids. No matter how big or small the event, he was their biggest fan on the front row cheering them on.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father, Minott and sister, Beth Ann. He is survived by his mother, Gertrude Cole, brothers, Wayne (Brenda) and David. His sons, Devon (Angie), Aaron (Sarah) and Minott, his daughter Sarah (Jason). Also, survived by his granddaughters Cassidy, Kennedy, McKenna, Annabelle and Casey; his grandson Preston and his former wife, Denise.
The family will receive guests from 6 -8 pm on Tuesday, September 27 at Hardage Giddens, Greenlawn Funeral Home. A celebration honoring the life and legacy of Vernon will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 28, at Evangel Temple Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
