Viola Yzaguirre Torres, daughter of Abel Baker Yzaguirre and Viola Stillman Yzaguirre, died on October 28, 2014. Born on July 7, 1927 in Concepcion, Texas, Viola was a member of the distinguished Yzaguirre family of Corpus Christi, Texas. She made her home in Jacksonville, Florida. Throughout her life, she espoused the highest ideals and standards and lived her life accordingly. She was a great advocate of education, a devout Catholic, and above all a loving mother. Her children were her pride, her joy and her heart. She gave tirelessly to her family and always placed their needs above her own. No matter what the need, nor the situation, her children and family came first. Throughout the years, she did without so that her children might have more. Viola was an avid supporter of Christ the King Elementary School and Bishop Kenny High School. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Y. Torres, Evelyn M. Hewett, one son, Michael A. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Page of Corpus Christi, Texas, Emma Salinas of Pensacola, Florida, her brother Carlos Yzaguirre of Corpus Christi, Texas and infant son, Anthony Torres.
