Virginia Stadtler Paul, 77, died peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida after a long, debilitating battle with dementia. She leaves behind her devoted husband and companion of the last 55 years, Gary, and her loving family to mourn her.
Vicki was the daughter of George J. Stadtler, Jr. and Elinor Broads Stadtler of Philadelphia. She married Gary on July 18th, 1964 and embarked on a truly wonderful life filled with family, travel, and adventure across the globe. Vicki made a home for her family and filled it with laughter wherever their life carried them, both here in the United States (Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and Palm Springs) as well as across the world in Italy, England and Japan.
Vicki loved to joke and laugh and loved sharing her humor with others. Her fake nose and glasses disguise was a treasured possession that always made it into the moving boxes. She had endless energy and was always busy. She raised four children, worked when she could, and was never afraid to take on a challenge of any size, from the school PTA to the President of the American Women’s Club of Rome, Italy. She was always planning her next adventure, ready to jump in the car, plane or boat at a moment’s notice. She loved animals and always shared her life, heart, and couch with at least one dog at all times, in all shapes and sizes, but with perhaps a special love for Pugs.
While living in London, Vicki fell in love with Musical Theater and remained passionate about plays, actors and singers the rest of her life, often working and volunteering in venues that connected her to the theater world, as well as attending her favorite performances. Michael Ball and John Lloyd Young, you have lost your greatest fan.
Along with her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by her siblings Ann Hosterman and George Stadtler, III. She leaves behind her husband Gary, son Chris and wife Missy of Jacksonville, son Andrew of Las Vegas, daughter Stefanie and husband Larry Matta of Houston, daughter Caroline and husband Justin Johnston of San Clemente, ten grandchildren Alyx, Samantha, Daniel, Victoria, Michael, Emily, Liam, Rowan, Cristina and Alex and her first great-grand baby, Diana.
The family plans a private memorial celebration this summer.
