

Vivian was a loving mother and meticulous housewife with endless energy for church and social functions. She faithfully served Holy Cross and St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Churches as chalice bearer and choir member for more than 50 years. Vivian belonged to the Daughters of the King, Red Hat Society, Daughters of the Nile, Gateway Camping Club and brought music and mirth to seniors performing with the Corn Cob Clan.
Vivian was preceded in death by her first husband A. Clayton Vandiver, Sr., second husband, John L. McDowell, daughter Mary Patricia Byers, brothers: Columbus Lee Morgan, Jr., James P. Morgan, and sisters Geneva Sykes and Bertha Flynn,. She is survived by brother Jack Morgan of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter Brenda Carol Lowe of Knoxville, Tennessee; son Albert Clayton Vandiver, Jr., M.Ed. of Jacksonville, Florida, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Appreciation beyond words expressed to Daughter-in-law Charlene Vandiver for tireless care and comfort provided in Vivian’s final weeks.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL, 32206 (904) 356-6585. A visitation will be held on Friday March 21, 2014 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Funeral Service to follow Saturday March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church 1735 Leonid Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, Father Paul Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville FL 32207.
