GOTHARD, William Allen “Bill” Gothard Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Mr. Gothard was born in Pineville, Kentucky, moving to Jacksonville after being wounded in the Korean War, being a U. S. Marine recipient of the Purple Heart. Bill was employed by the Miller Electric Company for 43 years. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by a grandson, Shawn. Bill is survived by his wife (his sweetheart) Nancy Ann; his children: Allen (Melinda), Cheryl (John), Elaine (Brian) and Beth (Danny); and his grandchildren: Stacy, Shannon, Jennifer, Ashley, Shane, Jason, Danielle, Brandon, Bradley & Matthew. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 22, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave., with Rev. F. Ray Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 PM Sunday, April 21, at the funeral home. In Bill’s final days, he wanted everyone to know that he was “one bad ass Marine”- Semper Fi-Oorah.
