

JONES - Willis Odell Jones, Jr. was born October 17, 1953 in Macon, Georgia to Willis and Luvena (Buchans) Jones, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017. He graduated from Englewood High School in Jacksonville in 1971 and from FCCJ in 1973. On August 1, 1981 he married the love of his life, Deb Jones. Willis had a huge passion for nature. He enjoyed maintaining his yard and volunteering at the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, where he served as the President of the Board of Directors. He worked at Southern Glazier for 36 years and was involved in many charities including the Good Guy and Good Girls Invitational, Charity for Research for Childhood Cancer, Gator Bowl Association, the Jazz Festival, Defending Freedom Warrior Weekend, St. Vincent's Health Care Benefits, Children's Home Society, Delicious Destination, The Red Rose Ball, "Wine in the Woods", and the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund to name a few.
Willis was an extremely loving father and proud of his 2 daughters - Susan Van Bibber and husband, Mike Van Bibber and Kristen Palau and husband Adam Palau. He was also Papa to 4 beautiful grandchildren - Hanna Van Bibber (18), Alyssa Jones (14), Jake Van Bibber (14), and Alexa Palau (1).
Willis isalso survived by his brother, Tom Jones, his sister, Shan Smith, and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Willis Sr. and Luvena and sister Dean Penrod. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens in honor of Willis Jones, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4th from 4 pm - 7 pm at the Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Road, and the Funeral Service will be at 1 pm Monday, June 5th also at the Arlington Baptist Church with interment to follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
