

Kay was a Navy wife to Ellsworth Snyder and stood by his side through deployments until his passing in 1981. After his passing Kay attended cosmetology school and became a cosmetologist and eventually owned her own business. For many years she owned and operated “New World Hair Salon” at the corner of Wells Rd. and Debarry Avenue. Kay was a major part of the Buddhist community in Jacksonville and was a dedicated member. Kay was passionate about her gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed crafting and knitting when the time permitted.
Kay is predeceased by her father Susumu and mother Ayako, her brother Shinichi and her husband Ellsworth Snyder. Kay is survived by her son Robert Snyder and his fiancé Jody Aderhold, granddaughters Zoe and Ruby Snyder, grandson Caleb Snyder of Saint Johns Florida, two brothers Tomoya and Mitsuo and their respective families in Japan.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on July 6, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
