George Taylor Jr.

He was proceded in death by his parents George William Taylor and Mary Alice Hopkins Taylor; his wife of 51 years Shirley Faye Taylor; a brother Marvin Wampler; and sisters Mary Peak, Emma Selvey, and Ethel Welch. He is survived by his son John William Taylor (Donna) and one granddaughter, the light of his life, Regan Taylor, along with many nieces and nephews who he loved.

SSgt George Taylor Jr served 20 years in the USMC including 2 tours in Vietnam where he earned 2 purple hearts along with other citations. After his retirement he continued to live and work in Jacksonville including a long stint at The Basement.

George loved the outdoors and woodworking with his good friend, Guy Shockey, or spending time with his other best buddy, Jim Barr, whom he shared his birthday with. He never met a stranger and loved helping anyone he came in contact with.

A celebration of his life will be held at 12pm, Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, NC.
