Jennifer was born on February 3, 1983 and raised in Southern California, growing up in a Mormon family. Jennifer remained faithful to her faith and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After graduating high school in 2001, Jennifer attended college at the University of Houston, Houston, TX where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and would later teach high school math. Later she returned home to California and pursued her Masters Degree in Education through the University of Southern California. Jennifer was well known for kind-heartedness and anyone who met her was immediately attracted to her smile and presence. Jennifer was passionate and believed that it was her purpose in life to be an educator. She taught at Northside High School of Jacksonville for the school year 2016 – 2017 until she was diagnosed with a Stage IV Cancer. Following her diagnoses, she spent two years fighting the cancer and returned to the classroom at Southwest High School this past fall 2019. She chose to remain in the classroom until she could do no more this past February 2020 when she fell ill as a result of the cancer affecting her other organs. On her last day in the school, realizing she could no longer fulfill her life’s quest of being an educator, she can be quoted in asking her administration “What about my students, who will teach them?”. Jennifer loved the beaches of California and North Carolina, she loved being with her kids during every possible minute, and she loved being outdoors when she could.
