Graveside service will be held Friday, June 26, 2020, at 11 a.m., Walker Memory Gardens. George Barrera will officiate.
He was true, gentle, compassionate, and kind. Our beloved father, Newton, is all of these things and more. He loved his country, his family, and God. Born and raised in Oakman, he left at the age of seventeen to join the Army. He served twenty-two years earning the rank of Master Sergeant and touring Vietnam and Korea. He was a man of honor and fine dignity. While we will miss him immeasurably, we know he is at peace and at home. Whistle us a sweet tune, handsome.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Blackwood.
He is survived in by his children, Joe and Doris Blackwood, Helen and Tommy Williams, Marion and Jim Glidewell, Sandra and Phillip Grace; grandchildren, Debbie and Terry Flynn, Tommy Lee Jr. and Shea Williams, Christy and Sam Lotuff, Toasten, Tamara, and Lena Blackwood, and Carolina Grace and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
