Florence “Florrie” Mathews Maluff, 58, of Jasper passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at home after a short battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 11 am at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home.
Florrie Mathews Maluff was born in Jasper, AL on January 22, 1960 to M.L. Mathews, Jr. and Florence Legg Mathews Cain. She graduated from the University of North Alabama in May of 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She and her best friend Lucy Brown were badminton champions in their college PE Class. On May 30, 1987 she married James Craig Maluff on Smith Lake, AL. They lived happily married in Jasper, AL for 31 years. On July 25, 1990 she gave birth to her only child, Kellie Maluff Wyatt. Florrie adored playing and reading to her grandson, Patrick. You could usually find her working in her garden, cooking in the kitchen, or relaxing with her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M.L. Mathews, Jr. and Florenece Legg Mathews Cain; sister, Nancy Carol Mathews; grandparents, M.L. Mathews, Sr., Minnie Pierson Mathews, William Lipsey Legg, Sr., and Minnie Lane McDonald Legg; in-laws, Edward George Maluff, and Shirley Jones Maluff.
She is survived by her husband, James Craig Maluff; daughter Kellie Maluff Wyatt (Rob); grandson, Patrick Wyatt; siblings, W.M. “Bill” Mathews (Nancy), Dottie Mathews Brown (Stephen L.).
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Birmingham Botanical Gardens and/or the American Cancer Society.
