
James “Mal” McCauley, 81, of Jasper, returned to his heavenly home on November 8, 2017, after complications from a recent surgery at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church at 7719 Alabama Highway 195 North, between Jasper and Thach. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with a graveside service at Bennett’s Cemetery. Ronny Thompson will officiate. Mal was well loved in his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a long time member of Cornerstone Assembly of God. Family and friends would describe him as fearless and having had a profound zest for life. Mal was preceded in death by his father, Carlis McCauley; mother, Alvada Lee McCauley; two sons, David McCauley and Jeffery McCauley; brother, Ralph McCauley; and sister, Katherine McCauley. He is survived by his daughters, Kim McCauley Raper (Roger) and Tonya McCauley Benson (Gary); granddaughter, Deanna Watson Myrick (Matt); grandson, Caleb Benson; sisters, Ernestine Dailey, Evelyn Nunnelley, and Dot Pulliam (Donald); sister-in-law, Jackie McCauley; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry Dailey, Eddie Dailey, Max Nunnelley, Dennis Nunnelley, Wink Alexander and Johhny Nelson.
