Jerry was born on November 3, 1945, at home in Jasper. During his time on Earth, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend to so many. With his passing, he took a piece of our hearts with him.
He was a member of Jasper’s First Baptist Church. Jerry was a faithful servant to the Lord through his ministry and deeds. He spent many years, countless hours, and days doing what he loved, helping others. Jerry loved God, his family, and friends. He loved going to watch ballgames and support all the kids he cherished. He loved volleyball the most. His favorite place to visit was Cades Cove. He was a man that loved life and what a beautiful one he built.
He was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Patricia Ann Sherer; parents, Breck and Lois Sherer; siblings, Marjorie Vance, Jimmy Sherer, and Bobbie Sherer; and in-law, Violet Harper.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa O’Neal (Carl), Tammy Knowles (Mike), and Amy McGhee (Jimmy); grandchildren, Brad Allred (Kim), Brandon Allred (Becca), Heather Tittle (Kelsey), Justin Knowles (Malinda), Meagan Dutton, Savannah McGhee, and Emma McGhee; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Woodley; brother, Mike Sherer (Martha); in-law, Floyd Harper (Kazuko) and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
We can’t begin to express our love and gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support during this difficult time.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Sanders, Ed Lay, Barry Burton, Mike Robinson, Bob Forbus, Carpenters for Christ, Disaster Relief, his Sunday School Class, and World Changers.
