John Howard Woodley John Woodley was a World War II Veteran who served in Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Boldo Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church for 63 years. He served as a deacon there for 54 years. He and the love of his life were married almost 71 years. He retired from Alabama Power at Gorgas Steam Plant in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Estelle Woodley; brothers, Opal Woodley, Lacey Woodley; and sisters, Edyth Cordes, Mae Copeland and Macey Cordes. He is survived by his wife, Jerldeen D. Woodley; daughter, Linda Blackwell (Johnny) and Diane W. Hart; grandchildren, Dr. Ty Blackwell (Leslie), Leigh Alexander, Todd Blackwell (Molly), Valerie Pillow, and Natalie Allen (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Morgan Pillow, Jordan Allen, Kade Allen, Gavin Blackwell, Ansley Alexander, Sydney Blackwell, David Loyd, Kroy Alexander, and Crymson Blackwell; great-great-grandchild, Adalyn Ripper; sister, Helen Shelton; and host of nieces and nephews.
