Family will receive friends on Friday, March 15, 2019, from 2 until 3 p.m., at Long Memorial United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Services directing. Burial at Oakhill Cemetery. Charlie Brown will officiate.
Mrs. Kacharos was a retired teacher with the Walker County Board of Education. She taught at T.W. Martin, Dora, and Bankhead Middle School and she loved all of her students. She is remembered most by her students for teaching Social Studies, but especially table manners and life lessons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Kacharos, Sr.; son, Joey Kacharos; parents, J.D. and Claudia Cowan; brothers, Jerry Cowan and James Cowan; sisters, Johnnie Hall and Jean Thompson.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Kacharos (Pat); grandchildren, Nicole Chilton, Paul Kacharos (Candace), Josh Kacharos (Carmen), Mackenzie Forland (Jason) and Magen Kacharos; 7 great grandchildren, Kaylyn Chilton, Luke Chilton, Chloe Kacharos, Case Kacharos, Oden Forland, Asher Forland, Mason Forland, brothers, Roy Cowan (Carol) and Joe Cowan (Betty); special friends, Carol McClendon and Helen Pickett; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Long Memorial Methodist Church Building Fund.
