William R. "Billy" Baxter

William R. “Billy” Baxter, 72, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019, at home. Family will receive friends Monday, December 23, 2019, from 11a.m. until 12 p.m. Service will follow at noon at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. B. C. Nix will officiate.

Billy was a loving husband of 29 years, Daddy, and Pop Pop. He served in the military and was also a retired miner from Drummond Coal. He was the designated neighborhood watchman and also loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Hazel Baxter; son, Jeff Baxter; siblings, Ronnie Baxter, Jeannie Baxter, and Jo Carol Mayes; in-laws, Elmer and Billie Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Williams Baxter; daughter, Landi Baxter Strickland (Bill); grandchild, Isabella Strickland; siblings, Donald Baxter (Diane), Richard Baxter (Beckie), and Lynda Baxter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association or R.U.F.F. (Rescue United for Furbabies).

Pallbearers will be Joseph Justice, Jake Justice, Allen Baxter, Jeremy Guthrie, Jeff Williams, Kris Williams, and Greg Williams.
