She was born October 7th, 1985 in Jacksonville, FL, a daughter of the late James S. and Deborah Anne Johnston Gencel Sr.
Jammie was an independent writer, a CPR instructor, and the office manager (jack of all trades) at Hydraulic Solutions in Waynesburg, PA. She was a retired Paramedic for EMS Southwest in Greene County, PA, and worked at Tristate Surgery Center in Washington, PA.
Her son, Jameson, was the light of her life and whom she lived for. Jammie enjoyed reading, writing, coffee, the beach, all things polka dots and flamingos, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. A good cup of coffee and a book were all that was needed to make her smile.
Jammie was a “size two fairy princess” by her own description which aptly fit her quirky personality. She lived her beautiful life out loud. You always knew she was around by her unfiltered, fun, boisterous self and contagious laugh. Her quick wit and wry humor made everyone around her smile. Jammie loved with her whole heart and gave everything she had to the people that she loved and cared about.
Jammie is preceded in death, along with her parents, by paternal grandparents, James S. and Lillian Kruszewski Gencel Sr., maternal grandmother, MaryLou Johnston Lingis, uncle, Ronald “RJ” Johnston and aunt, Bernadine Gencel Larrimore.
Surviving are her son, Jameson; three sisters Kathlyn (John McMahon) Gencel of Smithfield, PA, Barbara (Shaun Brown) Gencel of Morgantown, WV, and Jessica (Shannan Orum-Scherich) Scherich of Washington, PA.; maternal grandfather Lloyd James Johnston of Yulee, FL, five nieces, Lillian, Aubrey, Emma, Leah, and Margaret, two nephews, Aiden and JD, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and two beloved dogs, Moose and Tonks, and three demonic cats, Seraphina, Penelope, and Oliver.
Her sisters also want to recognize Jammie’s best friend since high school, Justin Shellot, who was always there for Jammie.
Per Jammie’s final wishes, her family will be having a “celebration of her life” on September 28, 2024, at Kathlyn’s house. For location and information, please contact the family at the following numbers: Kathlyn – 724-884-3202, Barbara – 724-984-2672, Jessica – 724-678-3519
