She was born April 11, 1927 in Swarts Station, a daughter of the late Hallie Lee and Sadie Virginia Ross Phillips.
Mrs. Thorne was a home maker and former member of the Greene Valley Church of God.
On May 18, 1950 she married Marion F. Thorne, who died March 18, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Marion Ray Thorne and his wife Tammy of Jefferson; three daughters, Virginia Fairest Cox of Washington, Rose Marie Thorne of Washington and Linda Marie Thorne of Waynesburg; six siblings, Helen L. Kelly of Prosperity, Robert Franklin Phillips of Prosperity, Kenneth Lee Phillips of Waynesburg, Virginia Mae Kennedy of Prosperity, Nettie Gail Morris of Waynesburg and Edna Rose Schrader of Prosperity.
Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
