

He was born July 5, 1965 in Akron, OH, a son of Nancy S. Rush and the late Dale W. Areford.
Mr. Areford was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and the Global War on Terrorism, having served in the United States Marine Corps from December 1986 to December 1992. He also served serval years in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
He worked as a corrections officer at SCI Greene in Waynesburg.
Matt loved brewing beer at home, hunting, fishing and cooking.
On August 29, 1995 he married Angie J. (Smith) Areford, who survives.
Also surviving is his mother and step-father, Nancy Rush Metz and her husband Mike of Carmichaels; three children, Aaron M. Areford of Florida, Robert W. Woodring and his wife Toni of Reston, VA, and Amanda D. Duranko of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Morgaine Rico-Woodring and Harley Woodring-Rico; two sisters, Theresa Irwin (Dave) of Holly, MI, Loretta Crouch (Mark) of Masontown; two brothers, Delbert Areford (Shannon) of Camden, SC and Johnny Lasko (Kelli) of Carmichaels.
Deceased in addition to his father is a brother, Charles Lasko.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Calvin Linderman officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps, the American Legion Post 400 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, both of Carmichaels.
