Aleta was the heart of her family. She was creative, gentle, strong, and full of life. A gifted seamstress and true craft connoisseur, she expressed her love through her hands, stitching care, patience, and meaning into everything she made. Creating was never just a hobby for her, it was how she showed love.
Music was one of Aleta’s greatest passions. It filled her home and carried her through every season of life. She felt deeply, loved deeply, and lived with intention. In difficult moments, she would remind those around her that this too shall pass, offering comfort and steady reassurance.
She is survived by her mother Carmen Rooks; sister-in-law Pamela Rooks and three brothers; her loving husband, Shelton R. Smoak III; her daughter, Michelle McCaffrey, and son-in-law Sean McCaffrey; and her son, Shelton R. Smoak IV. She was deeply loved and will forever be missed by her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.
Aleta’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and deep feeling. She lives on in every stitch she made, every song that brings comfort, and every heart she touched. Though she is no longer physically with us, her presence remains, reminding us to treasure “this life, this life, this life” with all its beauty and meaning.
