Camille “Cam” Winfred Weatherford, 85, passed away peacefully Monday, 3 February, surrounded by family and the caring staff of Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Mary Weatherford, his brother Farris Weatherford (Shirley), sisters Jeanine (Gene) Bonds, and Retired U.S. Air Force Major Eleanor Weatherford.
Cam was born in 1940 in Bath, South Carolina and spent his formative years attending Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School, graduating in 1959 and later attending the University of South Carolina. Shortly thereafter, he entered the military, serving in the U.S. Army in the early 1960’s. Cam then traveled to Colorado where he spent his remaining years as a train engineer with Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 2005. He spent his retirement years in Jensen Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed daily trips to the pool, tooling around in his golf cart and watching college football, especially his beloved Gamecocks.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lynda Wright Weatherford, his children, Donna Weatherford Brown (Tim), Lisa Weatherford Yascavage (Jim), Lori Weatherford Davis (Jan) and Cam Jayson Weatherford (Tanya). Cam adored his many grandchildren and often boasted that “they all looked like him”…they are: Taylor Jones Jackson (James), Carson Elizabeth Jones, Ellington Graeme Jones, Morgan Venay Rathe (Adam), Madison Alana Ritchie (Russell), Reece Jayson Weatherford, Trinity Chalee James, Breckin Jolynn Potestio, Jackson Davis, Kaden Davis and 4 great-grandchildren, Beau Henrik Jackson, Stetson Crue Weatherford, Maddox Andrew Rathe, and Rhodes Taylor Ritchie. Nieces Elizabeth “Liz” Usher, Rebecca “Becky” Jarman (Lawrence), great niece, Michelle Hutto (Phillip Elrod) and a great-great nephew, Dylan Hutto.
Cam will be remembered for his impeccable style and taste (especially his predilection for Italian shoes & fedora hats) and his love for college football. He was a graceful dancer who commanded the dance floor with ease and fluidity. Coupled with his good looks, quiet charisma, tailored suits and penchant for dancing, Cam was always a welcome sight at any gathering.
In lieu of a service, his wishes are to have his children spread his ashes at a location that is special to each of them.
