Born May 12th, 1936, Carol was the eldest daughter to Ruth and Herman Achsel. She spent her childhood in the Wisconsin, Rhine Center/Kiel area where her family owned a farm. Carol lived for many years in Port Washington, Wisconsin before moving to Arizona. She joined her daughter,Susanne Banks, in Jensen Beach, Florida for her last two months and enjoyed her new beach home.
She very much loved keeping track of her great granddaughter Meadow, cooking, decorating and her beloved dogs. She enjoyed a beer almost every night as she kept watch over her backyard. In addition, she was very attuned to the topic of good nutrition and enjoyed talking about and advising her loved ones about vitamins. If you called her and she detected you were sick, she would give you an expert consultation on what vitamin you could possibly be missing along with an 800 number to call and order.
She was a loving mother to Susanne Banks (Brian) and Karen Kirsch (Robert Hansen). She was a proud grandmother to Katharine Valentino (Brady) and Nathaniel Banks. She was a great grandmother to Meadow Valentino.
She is survived by her siblings, who were her best friends: Helen Holtzbauer (Phil), Thomas Achsel and Linda Rooker (Richard) and her sister in law, Marilyn Thierbach. Preceding Carol in death, are her parents, her husband Terrance Thierbach, her brother in law, Dennis Thierbach, and her sister in law, Judy Achsel.
The family would like to thank caregiver Nicole Holland, who kept her company while in Florida and Treasure Coast Hospice House of Fort Pierce, for making her last days comfortable.
