A loving and fun man entered heaven on July 17, 2022. Charles Anthony Meyers, our Uncle Charlie, lived to 80 years of age before peacefully passing in his sleep at Solaris Health Care Parkway in Stuart, Fl.
Uncle Charlie was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 3, 1941. He entered Angel Guardian Home at just five months of age. His childhood seemed straight from the movies, as he journeyed through three additional children’s homes (Saint Mary of the Angels Home, St. John’s Home for Boys, and St. Vincent’s Home for Boys) and two amazing foster families (the Myers’ & Kenny’s). At nineteen years of age, he received his records and used them to locate his family.
Interestingly, before receiving his records, Charlie chose the middle name Anthony, after one of his best friends, Tony Circello. He later learned that his given middle name was Joseph. Even so, there was never a doubt in his mind that he should maintain Anthony
With records in hand, Charlie discovered two of his brothers were in the homes with him. He was very excited to learn of eight additional siblings, 11 in all! In 1962, he spent his savings to travel to Ft. Myers, Florida and meet his family for the first time. He was elated to finally have his mother, Lillian, brothers, sisters, nieces & nephew in his life. He continued to visit Florida annually and the family grew. All looked so forward to his trips, as Uncle Charlie brought excitement, sincere love and constant fun. The stories are endless.
Charlie received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked on Wall Street for a securities exchange company before inevitably finding his passion in the hospitality industry. He enjoyed meeting countless friends at the Panoramic View in Montauk, NY.
You were guaranteed to laugh with Uncle Chuck. His love was boundless and we have enjoyed listening to him happily singing George Jones and an abundance of classic country, watching him kick his grand-nieces’ butts at Rummy, winning a sombrero hat dance contest in Mexico, playing Bingo with his friends at Solaris, enjoying a Western movie, sneaking sweets - especially coffee ice cream with hot fudge and nuts - even in spite of his battle with diabetes, and proudly sharing his time in the spotlight as the first 3-time winner of the Ted Mack Show as a member of The Four Peanuts.

Uncle Charlie is survived by his older sister Joanie, younger brother Donald, son Keith, granddaughter Annika, and an extended family full of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and Home Boys. His infectious smile and forever-happy demeanor is a lesson for us all and will be so greatly missed. Heaven truly gained an angel.
