Theresa was born November 10, 1923 in Southampton, Long Island, New York in her grandparent's home where her father also was born. She was an only child. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Leo W. Bruzdoski and Constance M. Prusinowski Bruzdoski.
Terry graduated from Westbury High School in 1941 and went to work at Mitchell Field for the Air Force. She loved shoes and claimed to have bought a new pair just about every pay day.
In 1947 Terry met Bud at the Farmingdale Tavern. He kept looking at her so she went over to him, gave him a kiss and jokingly told him to take his date home and come back...and he did! Terry married Archibald E. "Bud" Voorhes Jr.in a small ceremony at Farmingdale Methodist Church on October 23, 1948. They spent their honeymoon in Jensen Beach as Bud had two sisters, Millia and Shirley and their husbands, Joe Mosley and Clarence Cook, residing in Stuart. Terry and Bud fell in love with the little fishing village..
Back in Farmingdale, Terry soon became a homemaker and mother of two daughters as well as bookkeeper for A.E. Voorhes Plumbing and Heating after Bud bought his father's business.
In June 1957, Terry and Bud were re-married in St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Westbury, her mother's prayers answered. When Theresa's father passed in 1958, her mother came to live with them and remained with them until her passing in 1997.
Ten years after the honeymoon, the house in Farmingdale twice went up for sale and finally in November 1960 the family with two dogs and two birds caravanned to little ol' Jensen Beach. A lot had been purchased in the newly developing Skyline Heights. Mosley Construction built the house at 244 Jeannette Avenue and the family moved into their new home April 1, 1961.
After a short stint managing Bud's dream, the Dutch Treat Drive-In on north US 1, Terry worked at the new Skyline Professional Building for Dr. Darryl Marsteller and then Dr. Lowell Clark as a secretary/bookkeeper until her retirement in 1985.
Terry loved to dance and many a Saturday night was spent cutting a rug with Bud down at Seymour's. And they loved Poor Bob's. And the Outrigger and Frances Langford.
Theresa finally became a grandmother on November 17, 1983 with the birth of Michael Henry Killorin and again on February 1, 1985 with the arrival of Molly Bud Killorin in Denver, Colorado.
Although she would never fly, Terry and Bud loved to travel and spent each summer vacation driving to Long Island to visit Bud's mother as well as every relative from Riverhead to New Haven. Later on, they could broaden their horizons, driving and visiting all over the country especially Denver. Their daughters and grandchildren hold many fond memories of road trips from Lion Country Safari to San Francisco, Disney World to Ground Zero, Mt. Dora to Yosemite, Sea World to St. Louis. As age and health took their toll, Terry and Bud travelled by delivering Meals On Wheels in Jensen Beach. Terry lost her beloved Bud on October 23, 2007, their 59th wedding anniversary. Since then, Terry's travelling became restricted to post office and church or airport pick-ups and drop-offs. Lately, she loved travelling to restaurants for breakfast or dinner. One of her last wishes was to get out of that bed and go to TooJays for a cup of beef cabbage soup and a decadent dessert.
Theresa was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church. She was also proud of her Polish heritage.
Theresa often said how much she loved her family and that they meant all the world to her. During the last month, she told that to every visitor. Molly would have made her Granny a Great-Grandmother in April.
Theresa leaves behind her daughters, Connie-Lee Killorin, Denver, CO and Victoria B.
