I too did not know Uncle Bill well but so glad I got to meet such a true gentlemen.  I was one of the ladies that "slept" with him while in Annapolis for Duane's graduation.  We had a good laugh that day about the two ladies that "slept" on the floor at the foot of his bed. A true good memory for us.  Barbara List

I didn't know Uncle Bill very well but I have fond memories when we "slept" together in Annapolis for Duane's graduation from the academy. He was a very nice man and loved life. I am glad to have met him. Elaine Cacchione

   Now that we are back in Carolina after spending 5 days in Jensen Beach with June, we want EVERYONE to know just how much we will treasure being a part of the Life Celebration Service for Uncle-Daddy-Bill-Grandpop Long.
   Uncle Bill was Joe's hero and such a trememdous influence throughout Joe's entire life.  
   We visited Uncle Bill 3 times in the past 3 months.  First visit was to attend the Commodore's Ball (what a hoot!);  Second visit was to celebrate UB's BIG NINE-O with family & friends (what a Blast!); the last visit was, sadly, to say our good-byes to UB. 
   Joe will be forever-thankful for the precious time he had with Uncle Bill these past couple months.

   We CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT . . .
      the B-U-T-FUL Memorial Service AND the many heart-felt Tributes from sooo many dear friends and family {'you did it, June' -- (:~)}
      the Pinelake Village community for their hospitality @ the Clubhouse where so many enjoyed a wonderful Luncheon ~ ~ ~ (love y'all)

TO JUNE:  We will be forever grateful to you for loving Uncle Bill these many years you two were together . . . AND for the loving care & devotion you gave him these past couple months.   We love you.  
   Looking forward to seeing you here in 'the Folly' this summer.

OMG I forgot to mention how much good and Loving care he took of my Mom the whole time she was in Jensen Beach.
She actually took 15 years off her life by just being there. I was amazed how much younger she looked when I first went to visit her when she moved to Jensen Beach. BTW my Mom was somewaht responsible for hooking up June and Bill after Aunt Helen wemt on to the other side.
I also remember Uncle Bill taking time to call me and ask if I thought it would be OK if he were to marry June.
I asked him if he had had a good marriage with Aunt Helen which I already knew he did. When he said yes he did I said then I expect you will have a good marriage with June also and he did!

I always looked up to him and only wished that I could come close to all that he accomplished in life.
I will forever miss him and his insight into all of lifes simply problems.
I remind all of us of a song that always made me wonder " Who's gonna fill there shoes" ?
The answer as the world goes on is as always"NO ONE"

Bill will be sorely missed...He had an uncanny knack to know when "Uncle Al" was frying chicken and would appear at the door with a little something to share...I have very fond memories and think of him often....Anna Paddock

Bill was my stepfather, a gentle man who always had time to listen and offer encouragement. I know I am a better person today because of him. He inspired me and I will never forget our time together. See ya, Bill. Love you. CC

Bill was such a dear sweet person. He was my next door neighbor, & we use to share our homemade soups & deserts with him. He was so pleased to be thought of. He will be missed dearly, Jo Ann and Marie
