Robert Roy “Hobe” Leonard, Jr., age 89, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, a son of the late Robert Roy Leonard, Sr., and Nellie Hammitt Leonard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Steven Leonard; three sisters, Violet Lovelace, Doris Carrier, and Nellie Brinkley; and one brother, Charles Bryon Leonard.
Robert was a graduate of Science Hill High School, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Johnson City. He was a business owner of Super Oil Company and an avid UT Volunteers fan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane P. Leonard; one daughter, Melinda Boling and husband Kennie; one son, Jeff Leonard; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Leonard; five grandchildren, Bradley Boling, S.J. Leonard, Jessica Blevins, Seth Leonard, and Emily Palan; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Mia Blevins, Bryan Leonard, and Ronin Leonard; one brother, Dwight “Greasy” Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.
A Private Committal Service and Interment will be held in the Garden of the Gospels at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Ted Henry officiating.
