

Scott Lee Morris, age 67, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1957, Scott was the son of James Richard Morris Sr. and Eleanor Rose (Miller) Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother, James Richard Morris Jr. of Johnson City, TN; his three children, Karrie Morris, Jennifer (Morris) Riederer and her husband, Kyle Riederer, and Christopher Morris and his wife, Carol (Scott) Morris, all of Knoxville, TN; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Silas Riederer, Audrey Riederer, and Chloe Morris.
Scott graduated from Johnson Bible College in 1979, where he proudly served as Senior Class President. He continued his theological education at Emmanuel School of Religion and Kentucky Christian College, ultimately earning a Master of Divinity. This achievement deepened his faith and commitment to serving others. After graduation, Scott dedicated his life to ministry, serving at Midway Church of Christ and Bluefield College of Evangelism before taking on roles at Westmoor Church of Christ in Kingston, PA; Center Christian Church in Mays, IN; and First Christian Church of Chesterton in Chesterton, IN.
Beyond his ministry, Scott also built a successful career as a realtor in Northwest Indiana, where he left a lasting impact on the community. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers & Pirates fan, he found joy in watching sports, singing, exploring new places, and spending time with his family.
Above all, Scott was a man of unwavering faith whose kindness and devotion touched countless lives. Even in the face of declining health, he exhibited extraordinary resilience, always drawing strength from his faith. His legacy of love, perseverance, and unwavering belief in Christ will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Sunday, February 16th, at Johnson University’s Old Main Building (7900 Johnson Dr., Knoxville, TN). Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by a service at 4:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnson University in his honor.
Scott will be remembered for his beautiful singing voice, steadfast faith, kind heart, the love he so freely gave to his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed.
