

Betty J. (Rose) Duke, 88, of Alexandria, died September 19, 2015 at Price Road Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria, OH.
Betty was born on February 2, 1927 in Alexandria, OH, to the late Reid and Vada (Parr) Rose. After graduation from Alex High School in 1944 she worked at the “Rix” (Aladdin) Restaurant. She then worked at the Rinehart Tackle Co. and also the Newark Stove Co. In the 60’s she worked at Satterfields grocery and Bob Foo’s drugstore in Alex. She started working for Dr. Fred Nichols in 1975 and stayed for 14 ½ years. She also volunteered at Licking Memorial Hospital, one of the first to work in a messenger service. She was a member of O.N.O. card club for many years, a member of the Alex Museum and Historical Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post # 254 in Johnstown.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Roberts, Carol (Lenny) Stoneburner, Jackie (Mike) Ferguson and Annette Duke; grandchildren, Wendy, Elaine, Deanna (Greg), James (Amy), Matthew (Tasha), Jennifer and Jake; great-grandchildren, Emily, Sadie, Amber, Makayla, Derek, Violet, Wyatt, Ian, Matt and Kylie; great-great-grandchildren, Avonlea, Novella, Lucy and Kevin.
She was preceded in death by her parent, brothers, Gordon Rose and Harold Rose and son-in-law, Richard Roberts.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, September, 24, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055.
